Executive Team


As President and CEO, Jonathan Huberman is responsible for overseeing day-to-day operations and driving NewNet’s long-term growth strategy. Prior to joining NewNet, Huberman served as President and CEO of Tiburon, Inc., a leading software provider for the public safety industry. He previously was a Managing Director at the Gores Group, Tiburons primary investor. Prior to joining Gores, Huberman was President of the Consumer and Small Business Products Division at EMC Corporation and was also responsible for the company’s China growth initiatives. Prior, Huberman was the CEO of Iomega Corporation and continued his responsibilities following EMCs acquisition of Iomega in 2008. He also served as Special Advisor to the Director of DARPA.

Huberman graduated with a B.A. in Computer Science from Princeton University, and received an M.B.A. from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.


As COO, Mike Nikzad is responsible for leading and operating NewNet’s overall business and overseeing all global business units. Mike is an experienced technology executive with a proven track record of delivering success and creating value in various tech sectors such as, hardware, software, consumer electronics and services. 

Prior to joining NewNet, Mike was an Operating Partner & Executive Advisor for Silverstream Capital; a San Diego Based Private Equity firm. Mike was COO of the Consumer and Small Business Products Division at EMC Corporation. Prior to joining Silverstream Capital, Mike held a number of leadership positions with Iomega Corporation including VP of Operations and VP of Customer Satisfaction. Mike started his professional career as an engineer with Orbital ATK working on NASA’s space shuttle program. Mike graduated with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Utah State University.


Jim Hall has over 28 years of legal experience, including both private practice and in-house counsel. Prior to joining NewNet, Jim held primary roles as Regional General Counsel for all Motorola businesses in Middle East and Africa, and Lead Counsel for the Motorola Networks business across Europe, Middle East and Africa.

Jim is an active contributing member of the senior leadership team and is relied upon by global executives to provide proactive and concise legal and commercial advice across numerous areas. The scope of Jim’s role includes strategic legal counseling and practical business guidance; drafting and negotiating a vast array of commercially significant contracts; developing training courses on Ethics & Compliance, FCPA and corporate governance; counseling clients on a range of issues, including domestic & international commercial transactions, litigation/dispute resolution, mergers & acquisitions and employment issues. Jim is highly experienced in managing large teams across many geographically and culturally dispersed countries, legal systems and time zones with the ability to work with internal and external resources to provide effective and cost efficient legal support.

Krishna Viswanadham Headshot

Krishna Viswanadham  joined NewNet Communications Technologies in 2012 as Chief Strategy Officer and President for Mobile Messaging Business. He has over 25 years of experience in corporate development, venture capital, R&D leadership, product strategy, technology development, international initiatives, innovation and entrepreneurship in the areas of communications, networking and personal computing industries.

Prior to joining NewNet, Krishna held roles of Vice President in the Business Transformation Office and Vice President of Technology in the office of the CTO at UTStarcom from 2006 to 2011. While at UTStarcom, Krishna led the divestitures of products and business units in the Americas region, India and China. Krishna was also instrumental in guiding the product strategy and market development in the areas of carrier equipment and services for wire-line and wireless access, optical, metro backhaul, IPTV, OSS/BSS and messaging. Krishna  led multi-hundred million-dollar nationwide turnkey broadband deployment projects in India.

Krishna holds a MS in electrical engineering from the University of Wyoming, a BS in electrical engineering from Osmania University, India, and did post-graduate work in electrical engineering at Stanford University. Krishna holds five issued patents.


T.K. Cheung is President of Secure Transaction Processing Division. He is responsible for overseeing all activities related to sales, product, services and support for the transaction processing products.

T.K. has over 30 years of experience in the electronic payments and telecommunications industry. He has held a number of international and US- based positions for Hypercom, Equinox Payments and American Express.

Prior to joining NewNet  in 2013, T.K was Senior Vice President of Research & Development at Equinox Payments, subsequent to the acquisition and divestiture of Hypercom Corporation by VeriFone, Inc. During his 19 years at Hypercom Corporation, T.K. held a variety of leadership roles covering business development, product management and engineering in the US and Asia, including Vice President of Global Quality & Security and Managing Director for Asia Pacific. Before joining Hypercom Corporation, T.K. took up several important technical roles at American Express in Hong Kong and United Kingdom.

T.K. is experienced in P&L management, process analysis and re-engineering in a global arena. He has played instrumental roles in releasing revenue-generating products and acquiring customers.


Kutluk Uslu has over 20 years of global wireless and wire-line telecommunication experience covering software development, product management, sales engineering, customer service, business development and operations from product initiation to customer delivery. He is one of the original NewNet employees who developed NewNet’s industry leading signaling product line. He has held senior management roles at NewNet, ADC and SS8 Networks leading teams in engineering, customer support, software validation, operations, product management, business development and M&A.

As an expert in the SS7 signaling, Kutluk has been interviewed by market analysts and referenced in IETF SIGTRAN standards. Kutluk earned his BS and MS degrees in Electrical Engineering from Drexel University.


Darren Loos has more than 14 years of financial accounting experience, including both public and private accounting.  Darren has over 10 years of experience in public accounting, in which he spent the first 5 years of his career working in the Manufacturing Client Service Group at Deloitte & Touche, LLP primarily serving a large public company. Prior to joining NewNet in 2011, Darren was an Audit Senior Manager at Miller Cooper & Co., Ltd., where he served a diverse client base with a specialization in technology, manufacturing, service and distribution industries, as well as a focus on mergers and acquisitions.

Darren received his Bachelor of Science degree in accountancy from the University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana. Darren also holds a CPA license in the state of Illinois and is an active member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Illinois CPA Society.


Angie Batterson is NewNet’s Vice President of Global Human Resources, responsible for overseeing all aspects of Human Resources including HR strategy, global HR, recruiting, benefits, payroll, talent management, employee relations, compensation, and leadership development. Angie brings more than 15 years of human resources leadership and organizational management experience to this role.

Before NewNet, Angie was the Assistant Vice President of Operations for Group Long-Term Care at CNA Insurance, the 8th largest U.S commercial lines insurer. Angie held a variety of leadership roles during her 10 year career at CNA including Assistant Vice President of Human Resources, where she led employee relations for a shared services organization. Prior to joining CNA, Angie spent 12 years at Target Stores where she held a variety of positions including Human Resources Manager. Angie graduated from Aurora University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources/Organizational Management.


As Head of Sales for the Americas, Ben Miller is responsible for driving revenue through the sales team and establishing the strategic direction for the company. Ben brings more than 15 years of contact center and communications executive leadership to VoltDelta, a NewNet company, with a background in building and managing direct and channel sales teams at organizations including inContact, Interactive Intelligence, and Sensory. He has been recognized by CRN Magazine as a Channel Chief for 2014 and 2015. CRN also named Ben as one of the top 50 most influential and powerful leaders in the IT channel for 2015.

Ben is known in the IT industry to design and implement successful global reseller programs. He develops strategic alliances and partnerships in support of the company’s growth objectives. He manages a team of sales managers along with channel managers.


Chris Aye has over 10 years of experience in business management, mergers & acquisitions and IPO’s. His prior assignments include being a member on various matrix teams at Amgen Inc. and assignments in financial planning and analysis. Prior to Amgen, Chris served as a Senior Analyst in the M&A Transactions Group at Homestore.com. Chris also spent 4 years in the High Technology Audit Group at Arthur Andersen LLP.

Chris received a BA degree from the University of California, Santa Barbara, in Business Economics with a concentration in Accounting and a MBA from the Marshall School of Business at the University of Southern California. Chris also holds a CPA license in the State of California and has been an active member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. Chris is a member of the NewNet Board and additionally is a Vice President of Mergers and Acquisitions at Skyview Capital.


Matt Thompson has over 16 years of private equity, business development, consulting, and operations experience, primarily in the telecom and new media sectors. At NewNet, Matt is responsible for strategic planning, M&A and partnerships. Matt’s previous roles include serving as VP of Operations at tech buyout firm The Gores Group, Director at FTI Consulting, and Director of Business Development at Sony Pictures. Matt also served as Manager of Corporate Development at broadband services provider Flashcom. Matt also worked in the telecom consulting group of PwC, where he advised numerous wireless, wireline, and broadband clients on corporate finance and strategy assignments.

Matt has a MBA from Stanford Business School and a BA in Economics from Pomona College. Additionally, Matt is VP of Portfolio Operations at Skyview Capital.
